About UDYC: UDYC provides young people ages 13-22 who are experiencing homelessness, at risk, runaway, and/or street involved the opportunity, tools, and support in transitioning to improved living while creating a safe, nurturing environment that values and respects the cultural diversity of the young people we serve. A program of UDYC, the Drop-In Program is open Monday Thursday afternoons and works with young people experiencing homelessness, supporting them to meet their basic needs and engage in case management services and other supportive services.
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the UDYC Program Manager, the Case Manager Housing Navigator will be responsible for providing intensive case management services to homeless or unstably housed young people ages 15-22.This position requires collaboration with the larger UDYC team.
Identify clients through outreach efforts and community partnerships. Determine eligibility and complete enrollment process.
Provide a minimum of 20 hours weekly direct contact with participants, including face-to-face counseling, advocacy and transportation and assisting young people in meeting their basic needs of food, housing and safety.
Maintain an active caseload of approximately 25 young people. Provide a full range of case management services, including crisis intervention, counseling and referrals. Work in collaboration with other agencies and institutions to meet the needs of the clients. Accompany young people to appointments as needed.
Develop a working knowledge of community resources and assist young people to access resources related to housing, education, legal services, employment, mental health, drug/alcohol treatment, disability services, and mainstream services.
Maintain complete and timely documentation of clinical files including enrollment forms, status reports, confidentiality and compliance related documents, and case notes. Ensure all client-related data is both current and accurate in required records and/or YouthCare s Evaluation System (YES).
Compile and complete monthly reports as required by contract guidelines.
Engage young people through Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Informed Care, Harm Reduction, and strengths-based approaches.
Attend community meetings. Keep abreast of professional trends in the community: attend seminars, workshops or conferences (as funding permits).
Participate in weekly or bi-monthly supervision meetings and in monthly clinical consultation.
Attend a minimum of six in-service trainings annually.
Attend monthly grant funder sponsored meetings as required for position.
Provide support for the Orion community including participating in various events and activities.
Attend monthly Housing Navigator and other community meetings.
Provide milieu services. Provide staffing of drop-in center as directed by supervisor and create safe and supportive therapeutic environment for young people.
Be an active, contributing member of the UDYC Team. This includes attendance and active participation in weekly staff meetings and clinical consultation.
Participate in team effort to maintain a clean and safe building.
Collaborate with agency partners in building.
Represent UDYC at community outreach fairs and other applicable functions as assigned by supervisor.

One (1) year experience providing services to young people experiencing homelessness and/or vulnerable young people.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Willingness to learn computer based case management system.
Flexibility and ability to work in fast paced environment.
Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi-cultural situations.
High School Diploma or GED
Experience and credentials must comply with program contract requirements
Bachelor s Degree in a related field or 2-3 years experience working with young people experiencing homelessness.
Bilingual or high level of proficiency in Spanish and English.
Specific work with homeless and/or at-risk young people in King County.
Additional experience with high-risk populations, such as young people experiencing homelessness, chemical dependency, emotional or behavioral disorders.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Must be able to provide I-9 supporting documentation for employment.
Current TB Test.
Food Handler s Card.
Successful completion of pre-service training as required by contracting agency. Training will include: New Employee Training, Cultural Proficiency training, CPR/First Aid and HIV/AIDS training, CSEC and Right Response training, Defensive Driving and 15-Passenger Van training.
Must possess a valid WA State Driver s License and have the ability to drive.
When driving YouthCare vehicles, you must possess a valid WA State Driver s License; meet minimum safe driver criteria established by the agency and our insurance company.
Computer software skills including Windows, Microsoft outlook, Microsoft Word

Strong oral and written communication skills with good quality spelling, grammar and punctuation
High integrity when dealing with a broad array of cultures and restricted and/or confidential information.
Ability to deal therapeutically with behavioral and emotional problems presented by young people and understanding of emotionally, physically and sexually abused young people.
Ability to coordinate overall program functioning.
Ability to accurately maintain and produce files, records, logs and reports.
Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients while building trust and respect.
Ability and willingness to stay awake and alert during overnight shifts.
Ability to verbally and physically respond to an aggressive person in ways that de-escalate, establish and maintain staff and young people safety.
May be required to assume responsibilities or duties within the agency not specifically delineated in this job description for short periods of time or on an infrequent basis.

Ability to perform range of physical motions, exerting up to 50 pounds. Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, kneeling, squatting, and stooping; running for brief periods of time; and go up and down stairs.
