Job Description: Director of Accounting

Company Overview: One of our clients are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Accounting to join our dynamic team.

Position Overview: As the Director of Accounting, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and providing strategic guidance to senior management. This is a leadership role that requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to drive process improvements and optimize financial performance.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll functions.




• Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safeguard company assets.




• Prepare and present timely and accurate financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to senior management and the board of directors.




• Analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide insights to support strategic decision-making.




• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and efficient processing of financial transactions and resolve any discrepancies or issues that arise.




• Manage the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors to ensure compliance and timely completion of audits.




• Stay up to date with changes in accounting standards and regulations, and assess their impact on the company’s financial reporting.




• Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.




• Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to streamline accounting processes and enhance efficiency and accuracy.




• Identify opportunities for cost savings, revenue enhancement, and risk mitigation.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA designation is highly preferred.




• Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.




• In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.




• Strong understanding of internal controls, audit practices, and regulatory compliance.




• Proficient in financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.




• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions under pressure.




• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.




• Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.




• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and communicate financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.




• Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of developing and mentoring accounting professionals.




• Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and lead change initiatives.
