Engineering Technician

In order to qualify for an Engineering Technician position at the GS-09 level, you must: A. have 2 full years of graduate education or a master’s degree directly related to the work of the position; OR B. have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-08 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: Installing and troubleshooting the operation of electronic controls, equipment, and systems; investigating project sites to determine the condition of a facility or property; recording observations and technical information; making in-progress inspections; drafting technical graphs and plots to visually explain compiled inspection data. OR C. have a combination of post­-baccalaureate education in a related field, and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. In order to qualify for an Engineering Technician position at the GS-10 level, you must: Have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: providing technical advice and assistance on electronic control systems to staff; developing and implementing tests and methods to analyze and resolve malfunctions and failures in electronic control systems and equipment; performing preventive maintenance on facilities systems, controls, and equipment.
