Hospital Custodian
Pay Rate: $13.50/HR

Position Summary:

Under general supervision, performs environmental services necessary to maintain the hospital in an orderly, safe, sanitary and attractive condition. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, cleaning of patient rooms, patient support areas, surgical areas, offices and ancillary departments per department policy.

Environmental Safety

Maintains a clean and safe environment utilizing proper infection control procedures at all times.
Adheres to and supports the hospital smoking policy.
Is knowledgeable of and follows emergency procedures.
Is competent and responsible in following safety and Security policies of hospital.
Uses all equipment in a safe and effective manner.
Is knowledgeable of the contents of the MSDS manual.
Patient Safety/Performance Improvement

Demonstrates understanding of compliance with the national patient safety goals as appropriate to their role.
Supports and participates in the goals of the organization s quality improvement, risk management and patient safety program.
Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient’s care which results in patient’s harm.
Attends in-service presentations and completes mandatory education week, including, but not limited to, infection control, patient safety, quality improvement, MSDS and OSHA standards (PPE, First Aide and Blood borne Pathogens, Hazardous Communications, Emergency Procedures and Job Safety).
Adheres to hospital/department dress code.
Wears unobstructed name badge at all times while on duty.
Is knowledgeable of the need to report actual and potential patient safety issues to their supervisor and/or through the facility occurrence reporting system as evidenced by verbalizing examples of reportable patient safety issues and appropriately submitting occurrence reports.
Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.
