Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine Center, you will provide patient care related to treating various wounds with or without hyperbaric intervention. You will provide direct assessment and plan of care for patients under the physician director of the service.

* You will develop individualized plans of care for patients referred to the facility

* You will document the assessment, care plan, treatment and evaluation in the electronic medical record or Meditech

* You will perform debridement of necrotic tissue by autolytic, enzymatic, mechanical and/or conservative sharp methods as directed by the physician

* You will apply compression therapy when appropriate

* You will determine patient s priority of care, recognizing an emergent situation and initiating appropriate intervention

* You will perform and document ongoing nursing assessments with particular attention to barotraumas and oxygen toxicity

* You will determine and document the readiness of emergency equipment

* You will monitor and regularly reorder required supplies

Experience

* Experience in Wound Care preferred

Education

* Associate s degree in Nursing (ADN)

Licenses and Certifications

* Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License. If Compact License, Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire

* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per St. David s Healthcare policy

* Credential as Certified Wound Specialist preferred

St. David s South Austin Medical Center is an acute-care facility in central Texas with more than 300 patient beds. The hospital is known in the community for its nationally accredited oncology program the Sarah Cannon Blood Cancer Center, home to the area s only adult bone marrow transplant program and Level II trauma center. The facility s full range of specialized services includes cardiovascular care and rehabilitation, imaging services, women s services, joint replacement and orthopedics, surgical services including weight loss surgery, wound care, emergency care, cancer care, nutrition services, and a sleep disorder center. The hospital operates three full-service emergency centers.
