This position is advertised as indefinite. If funding becomes available, personnel action may become permanent without further competition, upon recommendation of immediate supervisor, or may be terminated at any time by management decision. HRO MUST clear the Department of Defense (DoD) Priority Placement Program (PPP) prior to process the personnel action recommended by the immediate supervisor, either conversion to permanent without further competition or termination of employment. T5 Only: An applicant selected for an indefinite appointment will occupy a full-time position without a specific time limitation. A technician in this type of appointment does not work towards permanent tenure and can be terminated at any time with a 30-day notice. The permanent status of a current permanent employee will not change in the event of a selection for a position that is being announced as indefinite. If a current permanent employee is selected, the position will be filled as a Temporary Promotion or a Change to Lower Grade. Employee serving under a temporary promotion may not retain a grade or rate of basic pay held during the temporary promotion. If a new hire is selected, the position will be filled as an Indefinite Appointment. T32: An applicant selected for an indefinite appointment will occupy a full-time position without a specific time limitation. The permanent status of a current NG T32 permanent employee will change to NG T5 Indefinite Appointment in the event of a selection for a position that is being announced as indefinite. Note: NG T32 employee selected for this position will not have the right to return to their former Dual Status (DS) military technician position after conversion to NG T5. QUALIFICATIONS

SELECTED FACTOR: Applicant must possess as a minimum a Bachelor’s degree with Superior Academic Achievement OR 1 full year of graduate level education leading to a master’s degree or equivalent graduate degree. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail – Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Problem Solving – Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must require one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-07 or equivalent). Applicant must have specialized experience performing or supervising duties such as serving as a technical specialist on all automated systems utilized throughout the state; providing solutions to customer requests for assistance; using systems that include personal computers, mini computers and mainframes; analyzing customer problems and researching database for possible solutions or tasks the appropriate subject matter expert; interacting with users to ensure proper operation of computer systems, hardware, and software; providing technical hands-on assistance with software installations, hardware configurations, and communication networking; installing and maintaining hardware devices; performing upgrade of hardware; configuring a wide variety of devices requiring diverse interfaces and device drivers in multiple operating system environments using a wide variety of hardware platforms; troubleshooting and correcting software problems; receiving, analyzing, assigning control numbers and tracking to resolution all customer requests. Note: Per DoD 8570.01-M, The incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA Level I certification within (6) six months of assignment of these duties.
