IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK) (T32)

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military grade in the Alabama Army National Guard. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade. In addition to the OPM Group Coverage Qualification Standard and IORs (Alternative A) specialized experience examples, specialized experience includes experience, education, or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls. Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment. Experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: — Knowledge of, and skill in applying network design principles and concepts, network architecture principles and concepts, network protocols, remote access technology concepts, network operation and maintenance concepts and methods, network management tools, configuration management concepts and practices, network topology concepts, LAN/WAN principles and methods, network optimization techniques and acquisition management policies. –Skill in configuring hubs and switches, monitoring network performance, performing network diagnostics, analyzing network traffic patterns and installing network software fixes and upgrades. –Skill in establishing connectivity between remote sites, creating network maps, troubleshooting network problems (outages) and implementing configuration management plans for complex LANs and WANs.
