Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount qualified specialized experience. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the BASIC REQUIREMENT and then meet the SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE for the grade level. BASIC REQUIREMENT: EXPERIENCE: Experience in Information Technology experience that demonstrates all of the following competencies: 1) Attention to Detail-thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail; 2) Customer Service-works with clients and customers to assess needs, provide information and assistance, resolve problems; knowledgeable about IT products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services; 3) Oral Communication Skills-expresses information to individuals and groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately; and 4) Problem Solving-identified problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives and to make recommendations. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for this position at the GS-12 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities and demonstrate knowledge of computer requirements and techniques in carrying out project assignments consisting of several related tasks. The assignments must have shown completion of the following or be equivalent: Analysis of the interrelationships of pertinent components of the system; Planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment; and Personal responsibility for at least a segment of the overall project. Examples of specialized experience includes the following: identifying and resolving difficult customer service requests; preparing and updating manuals, instructions, and operating procedures; supporting systems that involve a wide variety of different platforms, operating systems, applications, and desktop configurations; and managing a problem resolution database (reviewing, validating, and standardizing problem resolutions for inclusion in the database). You must include hours per week worked. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
