The Restaurant Manager works under the direction of the F&B Manager. The individual will have day-to-day involvement and operational responsibility for restaurant, lounge, room service and evening reception as well as occasional involvement in banquets. The individual will lead by example, instilling a strong atmosphere of service excellence. The individual will execute and operate within budgeted guidelines and goals, achieving results through prudent, hands-on management techniques and cost controlling measures.
Fulfills daily operating requirements for primary areas including restaurant, lounge and room service and evening reception operations.
Establish a positive work environment for all team members; comes to work on time in professional work attire and name tag.
Supervise food & beverage team members in day-to-day operation, assisting as needed during peak times while demonstrating a strong guest service culture.
Provides prompt and courteous guest service; Speaks with guests, smiles and makes eye contact when in guest presence.
Learns POS system; assists service staff with reporting and generates essential accounting reports.
Responds promptly to all in-person guest inquiries or complaints adhering to H.E.A.R.T and “Make it Right” problem resolution techniques.
Regularly reviews guest comments, contacts guests and makes necessary adjustments within the operation to maintain acceptable service scores.
Communicates in a timely and professional manner with co-workers and superiors. Responds to emails in a timely and appropriate manner.
Enforce policies and procedures established by the company, the hotel brand and applicable state and local health codes.
Ensure compliance with all food and beverage policies, brand standards and procedures by training, supervising and hands-on management.
Maintain confidentiality in communications with team members and managers; communicate with Lyons HR for support and assistance with HR related issues (recruiting, counseling and discipline, etc.) in conjunction with general manager.
Maintain accurate time and attendance records; post and edits work schedules in accordance with labor standards and business volume; contribute to successful onboarding of team members;
Monitors time card activity. Makes corrections in preparation to process bi-weekly payroll.
Promptly and professionally delivers coaching and counseling when necessary and documents appropriately.
Orders products in accordance with established purchasing and accounting procedures. Works with kitchen manager, banquet captain and breakfast supervisor to compile and place orders through approved vendors in accordance with hotel policy.
Ensure areas of operation are kept clean and in excellent working condition through personal inspection and use of work orders. Reports safety issues to chief engineer for repair. Completes and distributes nightly recap.
Implement sensible measures to control labor costs, reduce food waste and minimize overhead costs.
Monitor and measure weekly results to meet or exceed budgeted departmental profit. Complete weekly performance recap of labor to forecast.
Conduct essential departmental meetings; attend and actively participate in other hotel meetings as established by the general manager; works flexible schedule based on hotel needs including evenings and weekends
Adheres to established Kana Hotel Group and Hilton Hotels operating guidelines
Other duties as assigned
Four years of food & beverage experience with three years in a management position.
Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality, Food Service Management preferred
Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
Generally work in an indoor office setting
Will be using a computer frequently
Frequent standing and walking for inspection
Set up of banquet tables to include lifting and bending
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
