Clinical QI Control Specialist

Serves as a leader, innovator, and change agent to promote professional practice and outcome-oriented, quality patient care. Facilitate the development of nursing Staff and patient care team members through quality accountability. May be required to be on call status. Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate based on the level of patient contact this position requires.

Develops concurrent quality processs; establishes appropriate monitors to ensure quality processes are working; trains departments in the performance improvement processes.
Establishes clinical quality measures; establishes monitoring system; Maintains system to ensure ISMC is meeting national standards of care and hospital specific standards of care.
Provides a quality perspective in problem solving, decision making, and planning activities to achieve patient outcomes within the specialty population and across populations.
Performs clinical interventions necessary for achieving quality patient outcomes.
Serves as liaison to staff, administration, physicians, and other health care professionals.
Promotes and influence collaboration between all health care team members utilizing clinical practice council to also facilitate change to improve quality in patient care.
Performs rounds and chart reviews as needed.
Assist with development, implementation, and evaluation of education systems/plans to meet regulatory requirements and quality initiatives.
Leads or assists in guiding projects as directed.
Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality improvements in patient care.
Participates in hospital research activities.
Implements plans to improve clinical outcomes, disease management, and utilization outcomes and within care continuum through the QI process.
Contributes to financial integrity of department through identification and planning of cost-effective practices, direct generation of revenue or both.
Assumes leadership to facilitate interdisciplinary/multidisciplinary collaboration.
Serves as a patient advocate in the patients’ needs, as well as those individuals involved with patients (as relevant).
Assists in the infection surveillance program including data analysis and intervention strategies for improving healthcare outcomes.
Assists in developing criteria for procedures done by the physicians, and in developing indicators to be used by the departments in identifying outliers.
Represents the Patient Care Services & Quality department at various assigned medical staff committees or department meetings to provide assistance and information regarding quality assurance activities.
Gathers data from charts, summarizes it, calculates statistics, and presents results to physicians or committee members. Aids in data gathering efforts for hospital quality issues.
Contacts physicians and various hospital employees of provider quality issues, and assists in the assignment of the responsible party.

Moderate exposure to hazardous risks, including potential for exposure to infections and communicable diseases, blood and body fluids, electrical equipment, chemicals. Potential for bodily injury related to lifting and incidents of workplace violence. Must follow universal safety precautions. Exposed to constant interruptions, noise, disagreeable odors, and assorted chemicals. May float to other units.

Associate’s Degree in Nursing required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Current licensure in the state of Oklahoma as a Registered nurse.
5 years related clinical experience required to include experience with and Joint Commission and Oklahoma State Regulatory compliance issues.
2 years of experience in quality preferred.
Home Health only:
Previous experience in home health preferred.
