The C-Store Sales Associate engages with customers, offering assistance, and facilitating purchase transactions, all while ensuring exceptional customer service through the smooth and effective management of store operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs transactions and serve customers with purchases of store items, gasoline, and general information.
- Provides Customer Service in a friendly and efficient manner while being a team player.
- Ensures store is prepped in time to open for business and follows proper procedures for closing store at the end of each shift.
- Preps products such as coffee, fountain drinks, and similar items throughout the store.
- Stocks and maintains shelves, sales area, and grocery items ensuring correct temperatures, refrigeration, and frozen food requirements and in accordance with sanitary standards.
- Operates Passport electronic cash registers, calculators, and other equipment necessary to perform job duties.
- Maintains all equipment to ensure efficiency.
- Assists with maintaining external appearance of store and ensures property is always clean and presentable.
- Follows store policies and laws when selling controlled substances including alcohol and tobacco products.
- Prepares shift sales and worksheet including cash shortages per store policy.
- Completes a shift change report at the end of shift as directed by Store Manager.
- Reports to work on time and follows work schedule.
- Ensures Store Management is made aware of all sales, cash, or operating discrepancies and customer related issues.
- Protects all assets of the store and follows loss prevention guidelines.
- Performs mathematic calculations in order to make change, complete reports, and accounts for numbers of a variety of products during vendor check-in.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- 21 years or older
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must possess 1 year of cash handling and customer service experience.
- Must acquire and maintain a Gaming License, issued through POIGRA.
- Pass pre-employment drug test and background investigation.
- Must acquire New Mexico State Alcoholic Beverage Service Certification.
- Must acquire POIGRA Alcohol Server License.
- Must maintain all educational and certification requirements.
- Flexible work schedule, willingness to work any days/hours as needed.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- While performing the duties the employee is occasionally required to stand for extended periods of time including but, not limited to: climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions:
- The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate.
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is exposed to various weather conditions.
- Team member may occasionally deal with irate or hostile individuals.
