SUPERVISORY IT SPECIALIST (CUSTSPT/INFOSEC) – DIRECT HIRE AUTHORITY

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Information Technology (IT) Management Series 2210 (Alternative A). To qualify for this position, you must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: 1. Attention to Detail – Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. 2. Customer Service – Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. 3. Oral Communication – Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4. Problem Solving – Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND At least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade, DO-1/GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include communicating Cybersecurity strategic plans, missions, visions and values to organizations and integrating these into branch operations; manage team effectiveness, oversee programs that comprise the Information Assurance discipline; provide computer systems security policy and management. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Develops new methods, criteria, policies, or precedents for business management or a professional field. 2. Uses initiative and resourcefulness in interpreting and applying policies, precedents, and guidelines that are applicable but may be conflicting or stated only in general terms. 3. May administer one or more complex programs within a functional area. 4. Communicates important concepts to influence decisions or recommend solutions with specialists and management officials in own organization. 5. Communicates moderately complex information, concepts, and ideas in a clear, concise, well-organized, and timely manner. 6. Tailors presentations and briefings to meet an audience’s needs and level of understanding. 7. Identifies and advocates for resources necessary to support and contribute to mission requirements. 8. Contributes as lead or key member of the team performing the substantive analytical or professional duties in support of the organizational mission. 9. Leads/mentors/provides oversight to specialists at same or lower level. 10. Supports development and training of subordinates.
