Job Summary and Qualifications
What you will do in this role
As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Surgical Services Austin Market Float Pool, you will utilize the nursing process to independently deliver nursing care to patient in order to achieve quality outcomes and communicate need for guidance/supervision based on self-assessment of strengths and limitations. You will promote a positive image of nursing and collegiality among healthcare team members.
Austin Market Float Pool (AMFP) employees are scheduled in accordance with the Staffing and Scheduling Nursing, RN Floating Healthy Workplace Environment (HWE) and Attendance policies. Requirements of RN is unit based, facility based, or system based pools depend on which pool they are in.
Full Time: Minimum of 36 hours per week. Two weekends (or four weekend shifts) per 4 week scheduling period is required. The weekend is defined as Saturday and Sunday.
PRN: Minimum of 24 hours per week. One weekend shift is required per 4 week scheduling period.
One Major holiday for the first half of the year (January-June) and one Major holiday the second half of the year (July-December). One Minor holiday for the first half of the year (January-June) and one Minor holiday the second half of the year (July-December).
Market Float Pool employees will be required to float to all St. David s Healthcare System Facilities. Market Float Pool Nurses will be scheduled in units in which they have competencies. Market Float Pool Nurse can be placed in a unit below their competency level with a modified assignment.
Education and Experience
- Minimum of at least 2 years of RN experience with a minimum of one year specialty experience for those floating to specialty units.
- Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) from accredited Nursing program
- BSN Preferred
License and Certifications
- Current State of Texas Registered Nurse license or Compact Registered Nursing License. If Compact License Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required
