Job Description: Tax Accountant
Our client is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Tax Accountant to join their dynamic finance team. As a Tax Accountant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with tax regulations, managing tax reporting and analysis, and providing valuable tax advice to optimize the company’s financial strategies. This position offers a competitive salary range of $80,000 to $100,000, commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance: Ensure the accurate and timely preparation, review, and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns in compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.
Tax Planning and Strategy: Conduct thorough research on current tax laws and identify opportunities to minimize tax liabilities and maximize tax benefits for the company. Provide expert advice on tax planning strategies, including the utilization of tax incentives and credits.
Financial Analysis: Analyze financial data, such as income statements, balance sheets, and expense reports, to identify potential tax implications and optimize tax efficiency. Collaborate with other departments to gather relevant financial information and ensure accurate tax reporting.
Audit Support: Collaborate with external auditors to ensure a smooth and efficient tax audit process. Prepare and provide necessary documentation, schedules, and explanations for tax-related inquiries.
Tax Compliance Monitoring: Develop and implement internal controls to monitor compliance with tax regulations and identify areas of improvement. Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations and communicate their impact to relevant stakeholders.
Research and Documentation: Conduct research on complex tax issues, interpret tax laws and regulations, and prepare technical memorandums to support tax positions and decisions. Maintain accurate and organized tax files and documentation for future reference and audit purposes.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with finance, legal, and other departments to ensure tax implications are considered in business decisions, transactions, and contracts. Provide guidance and support on tax matters to internal stakeholders.
Continuous Professional Development: Stay abreast of the latest developments in tax laws, regulations, and accounting practices. Attend relevant training and professional development programs to enhance your tax expertise and knowledge.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is highly preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Tax Accountant or in a similar role, preferably in a corporate tax department or public accounting firm.
Strong Knowledge of Tax Laws: In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements. Familiarity with international tax regulations is a plus.
Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify tax implications, research complex tax issues, and provide sound tax advice. Attention to detail and accuracy are critical.
Technical Proficiency: Proficient in using tax software and accounting systems. Experience with tax research databases and financial analysis tools is desired. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel is essential.
Communication and Collaboration: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate complex tax concepts and recommendations to both financial and non-financial stakeholders. Ability to collaborate and work effectively within cross-functional teams.
Compliance Mindset: Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality in handling sensitive tax information. Strong commitment to ethical practices and adherence to tax regulations.
