-Job Description----JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY:Seattle Shipyard Welder Employees are responsible for the metal fabrication and repair of steel, aluminum and other metals aboard vessels.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:* Provides a variety of skilled welding (stick welding, wire feed welding, Tig welding, carbon arc gouging) of steel and aluminum plate, shapes and pipe in the repair of/or construction of vessels and associated equipment. Responsibilities include initial set up, material preparation, welding, testing of welds upon completion and assisting fitters as required.* Requires set-up and use of cutting devices for aluminum plates and shapes typically including Circular Saws, Band Saws, Chop Saws, Jig Saws, Plasma cutter and cutting wheels on grinders.* Lays-out and fabricates steel and aluminum structural parts, such as plates, bulkheads, and frames, and braces them in position within hull of ship for welding.* Lays out position of parts within hull form, w
