Head of Global Accident & Health and Life Claims
Location: Virtual (Quarterly Global Travel Required)
Reports To: Executive Leadership | Direct Reports: 30
Compensation: Base Salary $200,000$275,000 | OTE $240,000$325,000
Company Overview:
Our client is a global leader in insurance and reinsurance underwriting, operating across four key business units: International Insurance, North American Insurance, Global Accident & Health (A&H), and Global Reinsurance. This role plays a mission-critical function within their expanding Global A&H and Life division, overseeing claims strategy, execution, and compliance on a worldwide scale.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide global oversight for Accident & Health (A&H) and Life claims, including travel-related policies and programs under both insurance and reinsurance models (e.g., Lloyds Managing Agents, MGAs, and Programs).
- Lead and manage a high-performing global team of 30 claims professionals across virtual and in-person environments.
- Ensure all claims operations comply with Lloyds RIO Principles and align with regulatory and internal governance expectations.
- Execute due diligence for MGA and Program claims, including vetting TPAs and DCAs for operational capacity and compliance.
- Escalate broker/client inquiries and complaints through an effective team workflow.
- Oversee and participate in technical claims audits, using insights to drive process improvements and manage audit workload.
- Partner with legal/contracting teams to support TPA/DCA agreements for A&H and Life portfolios.
- Forecast team growth and resource needs in alignment with strategic business plans.
- Foster a globally unified claims strategy, ensuring internal and external stakeholders receive timely and technically sound support.
- Champion the development and recruitment of diverse, top-tier talent while mentoring existing team members to meet changing industry demands.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Extensive leadership experience in A&H and Life claims handling, on a global scale.
- Deep knowledge of international claims handling requirements and the ability to navigate cross-border claims practices.
- Strong analytical capabilities with experience using claims data for strategic decision-making.
- Proficiency in managing client/broker relationships, vendor oversight and disputes r
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and lead through change.
- Excellent communication skills and market presence to represent the company professionally in external settings.
