ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (CIVIL)

Website Naval Facilities Engineering Command

Applicants with current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the public or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Assisting with conducting and assessments of facility, site, and environmental conditions. 2) Assisting in designing, planning, and cost estimating for the trades and crafts involved in execution of facilities services; and 3) Preparing detailed specifications for item/services required in place contracts and is responsible for quality control inspection of same. Outside applicants without current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-08) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the public or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Providing technical support in engineering or construction projects for maintenance, repair and/or construction of facilities, systems and equipment; 2) Assisting with conducting analyzes and assessments of facilities, sites and environmental conditions; 3) Assisting in designing, planning, and cost estimating for the trades and crafts involved in execution of facilities services; 4) Using material specifications, technical bulletins, material orders, to assist in determining materials for use in construction projects; and 5) Communicating effectively with customers and management.
