IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC)

In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Individual Occupational Requirements for the Information Technology (IT) Management Series, GS-2210 (Alternate A). https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/2200/information-technology-it-management-series-2210-alternative-a/ EXPERIENCE: Must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving AND one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12 (or equivalent in other pay systems) which includes: Applying advanced IT principles, concepts, methods, standards, and practices sufficient to develop and interpret policies, procedures, and strategies governing planning and delivery of cybersecurity solutions; Utilization of system software and systems development life cycles including systems documentation, design development, configuration management, cost analysis, data administration, systems integration, and testing; Analyzing technical documentation methods and procedures to evaluate threats and vulnerabilities to command specific information systems, considering applicable policies, regulations, procedures, unusual circumstances and alternative methods of implementing and monitoring security requirements. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Comprehensive knowledge of current and emerging command, control, communications, computer (C4) and command, control, communications, information (C3I) programs and systems. Comprehensive knowledge of the nuclear command, control, and communications (NC3) enterprise connectivity architecture in order to provide guidance on vulnerabilities and deficiencies of thin-line systems. Master of a wide range of IT principles and systems analysis concepts and techniques, acquisition approaches, new and emerging information technologies, and effective management of information resources. Skill in leading and motivating project teams, working effectively with others, and ability to gain and maintain good working relationships in a variety of situations; includes dealing effectively with individuals of varied backgrounds, and building them into a team that will work cooperatively toward goal accomplishment. Ability to interpret, analyze, and evaluate new system engineering technologies and their effect on the operating environment and determine security vulnerabilities. Ability to evaluate and/or direct and participate in efforts to assimilate, develop, implement and maintain MAJCOM Level Cybersecurity/Vulnerability Programs and ability to stay well informed on rapidly changing technology, to evaluate its possible impact on organization missions, and to determine feasibility of target processes and policies before implementation. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
