Job Overview:

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting Manager to join their banking institution’s Finance Department. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of their financial records. As the Accounting Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, manage a team of accountants, and collaborate with various departments to support the financial health of the bank.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Reporting:

    • Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and regulatory requirements.

    • Ensure timely and accurate submission of financial reports to management and regulatory authorities.

  2. Team Leadership:

    • Supervise and mentor a team of accountants, providing guidance and support to ensure the team’s efficiency and effectiveness.

    • Conduct regular performance evaluations and foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

  3. General Ledger Management:

    • Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger, ensuring accurate recording of transactions and adherence to accounting policies and procedures.

    • Conduct periodic reviews to identify and rectify discrepancies or errors.

  4. Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:

    • Stay current with accounting regulations and ensure the bank’s accounting practices comply with local, state, and federal regulations.

    • Interface with external auditors and regulatory bodies during audits and examinations.

  5. Budgeting and Forecasting:

    • Collaborate with the CFO to develop and manage the annual budget, providing insights and analysis to support strategic financial decisions.

    • Assist in financial forecasting and planning to ensure the bank’s fiscal health.

  6. Process Improvement:

    • Identify opportunities for process improvement within the accounting function, implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

    • Continuously evaluate and update accounting policies and procedures.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or other relevant certifications are highly desirable.

  • Proven experience in accounting, with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role within the banking or financial services industry.

  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.

  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.


  • $85,000 – $95,000 dependent on education and experience.
