To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 06/02/2021. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-08, for a GS-08 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07, and for a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06 . The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Basic Requirements: Examples of qualifying specialized experience include technical work in: drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems. Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as: Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes. Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated. In addition to meeting the Basic Requirement (as indicated above), you must also possess the following specialized experience and or education: GS 07: Specialized Experience: In additional to the basic requirements, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Receiving and tracking work requests and using computer aided design system, Auto CAD to develop drawings for interior design projects. OR, Education: one full year of graduate education directly related to the work of the Engineering Technician such as, engineering, interior design, or architecture that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the Engineering Technician position.. Transcripts Required. OR, Combination of Education/Experience: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at the GS-07 level. When combining education with experience, first determine the total qualifying education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; then determine the experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. Transcripts Required GS-08: Specialized Experience: In additional to the basic requirements, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Receiving and tracking work requests and using computer aided design system, Auto CAD to develop drawings for interior design projects; work as an Interior Design and Architecture and assisting with Project Management. GS 09: Specialized Experience: In additional to the basic requirements, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-08 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Receiving and tracking work requests and using computer aided design system, Auto CAD to develop drawings for interior design projects; work as an Interior Design /Architecture and assisting experience as a Project Manager. OR, Education: Two full year’s of graduate education or a master’s degree directly related to the work of the Engineering Technician such as, engineering, interior design, or architecture that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the Engineering Technician position. Transcripts Required. OR, Combination of Education/Experience: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at the GS-09 level. When combining education with experience, first determine the total qualifying education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; then determine the experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; finally, add the two percentages. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The majority of the work is office type setting. During project development and implementation, the incumbent will be required to climb a ladder, crawl in a crawl space and maneuver into areas to perform inspections on existing conditions and perform inspections on construction installations. As part of the furniture program requirement is to track and sort furniture deliveries, the incumbent needs to be able to lift and move packages of up to 50 lbs several times a day.
