Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Specialized experience for this grade level is defined as: providing IT customer support in troubleshooting, recovering, and resolving recurring software/hardware problems; providing user training and assistance on a variety of routine applications; and assisting in the configuration, installation, and maintenance of networked systems including hubs, routers, switches, bridges, servers, and related hardware. To qualify at the GS-09 level, you must have: at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level; a Master’s (or equivalent) degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or a combination of both specialized experience and education. Specialized experience for this grade level is defined as: providing IT customer support in troubleshooting, recovering, and resolving recurring software/hardware problems; providing user training and assistance on a variety of routine applications; assisting in the configuration, installation, and maintenance of networked systems including hubs, routers, switches, bridges, servers, and related hardware; and assisting in network monitoring and management. To qualify at the GS-11 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level; a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or a combination of both specialized experience and education. Specialized experience for this grade level is defined as: providing IT customer support in troubleshooting, recovering, and resolving recurring software/hardware problems; providing user training and assistance on a variety of routine applications; assisting in the configuration, installation, and maintenance of networked systems including hubs, routers, switches, bridges, servers, and related hardware; assisting in network monitoring and management; and assisting in organization-wide account maintenance and software/hardware updates. To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. (A typing test may later be required.) Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
