s degree in Clinical or Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or in the chemical or biological sciences; and ASCP or AAB certification as MLS or MT. In the Cytogenetics laboratory, the Medical Laboratory Scientist II may perform chromosome and/or FISH (Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization) analysis on both oncology and constitutional specimens through microscopy and/or chromosome analysis software (MetaSystems Ikaros) or FISH analysis software (MetaSystems Isis and/or ASI); may perform routine lab procedures; participate in preparing specimens for processing; establish, perform, and document quality assurance, quality control, and equipment maintenance; confirm results through in-depth knowledge of techniques, principles, and instruments; correlate and interpret data based on knowledge of factors affecting test results; data handling and input.
